Tsukiji Fish Market recently announced that they will keep tourists away for one-month from its famous early morning tuna auction. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government, which is in charge of markets in Tokyo, has been concerned that too many foreigners are not “polite” while watching the tuna action. Some of them take flash photos while the auction is in progress and even touch or hug fish. Also, some people don’t understand warnings because of the language barrier. The market decided the ban due to these safety reasons. It’s the busiest time around this time of year. So the government has decided to place the one-month ban during this time. Be sure to check with your travel agent before going to Tsukiji Market. Please don’t be selfish and let them sell fish..
